The R Word

Remember the dot com bust? While there were very real valuation issues etc., I am convinced that quite a bit of the ensuing economic fallout was related to all of the “irrational pessism” that resulted from all of the negative talk about it. Conversely, before the collapse, there was “irrational exuberance.”
Anyway, connecting this with marketing I suggest this: stay the course. If you have a marcom program in place, keep it there. If you don’t, start one. If we really are headed for a recession, your company could stand to gain market share while all of your competitors are cutting back. This is well-documented. http://www.smeal.psu.edu/news/latest-news/mar05/leverage.html

As a Man Thinketh is a literary work of James Allen, published in 1902. The title is influenced by a verse in the Bible from the book of Proverbs chapter 23 verse 7, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is.”
The book opens with the statement:
Mind is the Master power that moulds and makes,
And Man is Mind, and evermore he takes
The tool of Thought, and, shaping what he wills,
Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills:—
He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass:
Environment is but his looking-glass.
