I Googled (that this is now recognized by most of us as a word is funny to me) myself today and found some interesting things. I like to pretend that all of the Chuck Morrises around the world are really just my alter egos — that if I had been born under a different star at a different time and place I might have been someone entirely different — one of THESE someones. Now, whether these are Good Chucks or Evil Chucks I don’t know. Personally, I try to use my powers for Good.
All of the talk about the R word (recession) has me spooked a bit. I’m spooked because I believe in the law of attraction (remember “The Secret”?). I believe that we attract into our lives that which we continually dwell on — good or bad. The mind is a powerful organ we understand only dimly, and it is powerful enough to manifest what we think about. So, I’m thinking that all the THINKING about the R word is bringing it to us. Even writing this post is contributing to that! (sorry).
Once upon a time, there was a little brand named Coca-Cola™. It was the 1920’s and Coke™ was expanding rapidly around the world. In China, shopkeepers were having a hard time spelling the product’s name in Chinese characters while keeping the same pronunciation. The literal translations of the characters, depending on the dialect, ranged from “bite the wax tadpole” to “female horse stuffed with wax.”
