Knoxville, TN – The First Presbyterian Church of Knoxville will host the 2011 Presbyterian Women’s Lecture Series, featuring the Rev. Dr. William P. Wood, Pastor Emeritus of First Presbyterian Charlotte on Sunday, November 13, 2011 and Monday, November 14, 2011. Dr. Wood will be speaking on “The Seasons of a Downtown Church.”

The series is free and open to the public. There is free parking in the church garage and across the street in the State Street Garage. Child care is provided.

WHY: Begun in 1974 with a bequest from Miss Laura Pettway, the Presbyterian Women’s Lecture Series has provided stimulating reflections for the congregation of First Church and the Knoxville community for 37 years.

The Reverend Doctor William P. Wood was elected Senior Minister at First Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, NC, in 1983. Dr. Wood earned a Bachelor of Arts – History degree at Davidson College, in Davidson, North Carolina and earned a Bachelor of Divinity degree and a Master of Theology degree from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Wood was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy - Old Testament-doctorate degree from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Wood also studied at the University of Heidelberg and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Tusculum College, Greenville, Tennessee. Dr. Wood was raised in Johnson City, Tennessee. Prior to assuming the Senior Minister position at First Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, NC, Dr. Wood served as Associate Minister, First Presbyterian Church, San Antonio, Texas, and as Senior Minister, First Presbyterian Church, Kingsport, Tennessee.

MCB announces Donnie Blair promoted to Director of Technology and Information Security

Blair has over 22 years of experience in technology and information security in both the financial and the healthcare industries. Knoxville Ice Bears Kick Off the 10th Anniversary Season with “Operation Sellout”

October 11, 2011, Knoxville, TN — The Knoxville Ice Bears announced today that they will be offering Silver game tickets at $10 each to commemorate their 10th anniversary and sell out the October 21 season opener against the Mississippi Surge at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. The game starts at 7:30pm, but fans are encouraged to come early to enjoy the pre-game festivities.

“We want to pack the house and celebrate what ten years of professional hockey means to Knoxville as a community. All of us are really proud of this team and this milestone. The special ticket pricing is our small gift to all of our fans,” said Mike Murray, president and general manager of the Knoxville Ice Bears.

To further celebrate the anniversary, the team will give away $1,000 at every Thursday home game. The team is also launching a new promotion called the 30 Days of Giveaways, which started September 14. A daily prize is given to one lucky fan. Prizes include a golf outing with a player, single-game ice box tickets for a fan and 11 friends, and an autographed Ice Bears jersey. The culmination of the promotion will be on October 13 when a fan will be given a one-day contract with the team.

Season ticket and 20-game package holders, who are up-to-date with their payments, are eligible to win. Eligible fans have already been entered and can win only once. Winners will be announced on the team’s website and Facebook page.

“We know we have the greatest fans in the SPHL, and we want everyone to help us celebrate,” said Dave Feather, assistant general manager.

Miles Snider joins Mountain Commerce Bank

Promotions at Mountain Commerce Bank reinforce strong leadership

JOHNSON CITY, TN – August 11, 2011 – Mountain Commerce Bank (MCB) announced today the promotion of three if its key personnel.

Unicoi County native, Whit Whitehurst, has been promoted to vice president. Mr. Whitehurst began his five- year banking career with Erwin National Bank, the predecessor of Mountain Commerce Bank, in the management training program, gaining experience in all areas of the bank. During his career with MCB, he was an assistant branch manager prior to being named special assets manager. He is responsible for managing special assets, as well as all aspects of the appraisal process throughout the bank. He earned his Bachelor of Business Management degree with a concentration in banking from East Tennessee State University.

Congratulations to Brad Pollock on his recent promotion to special assets recovery officer. Pollock has extensive experience in managing special assets and collections. In addition to actively managing foreclosed properties and resolving delinquent accounts, he assists with property valuations and appraisals.

V.V. Elliott has been promoted to assistant vice president. She has over 16 years of retail and commercial banking experience, including all aspects of loan operations. Elliott joined Mountain Commerce Bank in 2007, supporting commercial and retail lenders in the Johnson City area. In 2010, she was promoted to credit administration officer and accepted the additional responsibility of managing all aspects of the loan operations department. In addition, Elliott is involved in all areas of credit administration.
